Tenor Eric Finbarr Carey, fresh from the Oratorio Society of New York’s event at Carnegie Hall, presents an exciting recital in the beautiful Greek Revival interiors at Beattie! Carey will perform a program of All-English & American Song with works by Copland, Britten, Purcell, Vaughan Williams and more. He will be joined by Bethany Pietroniro on piano.

Space is limited, so please RSVP at info@beattiepowers.org!

Carey made notable debuts in 2020, including as tenor soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Andris Nelsons in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, with Emmanuel Music in Bach’s B Minor Mass, and Odyssey Opera with a “very strong performance” (Gramophone UK) as Guildford Dudley in the world premiere of Arnold Rosner’s The Chronicle of Nine. In 2019-2020 Carey joined the Renée Fleming Song Studio at Carnegie Hall, and the Britten-Pears Festival Young Artist Program before returning to the Tanglewood Music Center as a second-year fellow, where he was featured in the American premiere of Richard Ayres’s The Cricket Recovers, conducted by Thomas Adés and a concert of Bach Cantatas with John Harbison.

This summer, Pietroniro will be a Vocal Piano Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center, where she will collaborate with the TMC's Vocal Arts Fellows. Other collaborations in vocal chamber music include the world premiere of Julio Friedman’s Fried Cycle, presented in virtual concert with mezzo-soprano Hailey McAvoy, with whom she was also featured in the 2021 Sparks and Wiry Cries Songs of Identity virtual concert series. Pietroniro was a finalist in the 2019 Joy of Singing competition, in collaboration with tenor Eric Finbarr Carey. She is currently developing a recording project featuring living composers who also work in diverse fields including computer science, linguistics, and climate science.
