Acclaimed poet Gerard Malanga will read from his latest book of poems, The New Mélancholia & Other Poems on Sunday, September 26th at 3pm at Beattie. The reading will take place outdoors from Beattie’s East Porch, with a stunning view of the Hudson River. Weather permitting, attendees will be seated on the lawn. A book signing with the author will follow.
Gerard Malanga’s creative output has spanned six decades. A life-long poet, prolific photographer, filmmaker, archivist and Andy Warhol's assistant for seven years in the 1960s, Gerard is active with writing poetry, public speaking, and creating special artistic projects.
He is the author of 14 books of poetry spanning a nearly 50-year period, most recently including Cool & Other Poems (2019) and The New Mélancholia & Other Poems (2021) from Bottle of Smoke Press. Gerard lives in the shadow of the Catskills in upstate New York.
The event is free to attend, but your donation helps to operate this historic 1830s site. Health and safety guidelines will be observed. RSVPs in advance are requested. Please RSVP here or via info@beattiepowers.org.
